Explore Black Canyon @ 1 Utama

Located in the bustling City Centre of Petaling Jaya, Black Canyon @ 1 Utama offers a casual yet vibrant dining spot that blends Thai-inspired flavors with a broader fusion menu. Stepping into the restaurant, you’ll notice its approachable atmosphere, making it a comfortable choice whether you’re dropping by for a quick coffee or settling in for a full meal. One of the standout features here is the coffee-rich, bold, and consistently satisfying, with the affogato being a must-try for those who enjoy a dessert-like caffeine fix.

The menu itself is quite diverse, featuring Thai fusion dishes alongside pasta and Western options, which makes it easy to cater to different tastes within a group. Portions are generous and the pricing remains reasonable, giving it strong appeal for both regular visits and casual meetups. Among the dishes, the Pad Thai tends to impress with its balanced, authentic flavor, while the Thai milk tea offers a well-calibrated sweetness that complements the meal. The Thai green curry rice set is flavorful as well, though it leans more toward a milder interpretation compared to traditional versions.

For those who enjoy bold flavors, the tom yum soup delivers a fiery kick that can be surprisingly intense, yet still enjoyable for spice lovers. Some dishes may lean slightly on the salty side, but overall the taste profile remains satisfying. Service here is generally attentive, with staff checking in to ensure orders are complete, even if the pace can occasionally feel a bit slow during busier hours. The combination of variety, value, and distinctive drinks makes this spot an easy choice when exploring dining options in 1 Utama.

We tried their egg sandwich, Thai green curry rice set, and Pad Thai. Surprisingly, the Pad Thai was really good — authentic taste with great flavor. Definitely one of the highlights, and I’ll come back to try it again. The Thai milk tea was a bomb — not overly sweet, just the right balance . The Thai green curry tasted good too, although I’ve had better ones at other places. The sandwich was perfect as well. One small suggestion: it would be great if they could consider offering Pad Thai with a chicken option for people like me who have seafood allergies. Price-wise, it’s reasonable and worth it. Overall, a satisfying experience

We used to come and eat here when they still operate in centrepoint. Foods are quite good, generous portion and affordable price, they have many choices of Thai fusion food, pasta and western food. Service is good, staff is attentive and accommodating.

We had often passed by Black Canyon Restaurant on our way elsewhere, but this time, we made a deliberate decision to stop and dine with the kids. To our delight, the experience turned out to be surprisingly good, and we discovered a culinary gem in our neighborhood. Black Canyon Restaurant specializes in International Thai Cuisine, featuring a unique fusion of flavors that seamlessly blend elements from both East and West. The ambiance of Black Canyon Restaurant was inviting, with a pleasant atmosphere that welcomed families and diners of all ages. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes beyond what we sampled, promising something for everyone’s palate. Pad Thai The Pad Thai at Black Canyon was a standout dish. The noodles were expertly stir-fried to perfection, showcasing a delightful aroma and a medley of flavors in every bite. The balance of sweet, savory, and tangy notes made this classic Thai dish a definite highlight of our meal. Mushroom Soup Despite not being made with wild mushrooms, the Mushroom Soup still impressed us with its comforting taste. The soup was creamy, flavorful, and served as a satisfying appetizer to kick off our dining experience. Overall, our visit to Black Canyon Restaurant was a delightful culinary journey, and we look forward to returning to explore more of their menu offerings. If you’re seeking a dining experience that blends the best of Thai and international flavors, Black Canyon is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re a Thai food enthusiast or simply looking to try something new, this restaurant offers a memorable dining experience in the heart of our neighborhood.

Black Canyon @ 1 Utama is one of those places I’d usually pass by without a second thought.Today I decided to just eat here since they had a set meal for only RM15.90 – not bad! The moment I walked in, the smell of aromatic tom yum hit me, enough to make anyone drool. Browsing the menu, there were tons of options, but I finally picked the Kway Teow Ladna with chicken (basically, Thai-style Wat Tan Hor). The set came with tom yum soup and iced lemon tea, but you can upgrade to Cha Thai Yen for just RM2 more. First, the tom yum – super flavourful, tangy, and not oily at all. Then came my kway teow, which smelled amazing! Unlike the Chinese version, this Thai-style dish is tangy and a bit more watery. Adding their signature chili took it up a notch – so good! Overall, I was really satisfied with the portion, price, and taste. Service was good, and they served everything pretty quickly too!

Food is surprisingly nice and the price is reasonable. Had a waiter on wheels to deliver food to our table. Food on the menu does not look exactly as served. They say it is artist impression in the menu, don't be surprised. The taste is still 7/10.

Edit 4.3.2023: Love the bold and strong coffee here. Always so satisfying. Try the affogato. Be blown away! Tom yum soup was mouth-numbing spicy but oh so delicious. Not really authentic Thai food but overall it's good though the food is a tad salty. Service was a little slow but the staff came to check that we got all our orders.
